I remenber as if it was yesterday... the very first time I've listened to Branford Marsalis music.
I was 12 yers old at the time, and I bought an album, Random Abstract, where they've recorded Yes or No, by Wayne Shorter, and a beautiful version of I thought about you ( a truly homage to Ben Webster) with a great quartet: kenny Kirkland, Dilbert Felix and Lewis Nash. That completely blowed my mind away, and still doing it!! (Here's a version with Bob Hurst on bass and Jeff 'Tain' Watts on drums, for me one of the best Swingin´ Quartets ever!).
This interesting video is a clip taken from a fantastic documentary called Before the music dies, by Andrew Shapter and Joel Rasmussen.
